If you’re living in rented accommodation, we can help protect your belongings by offering you a contents insurance policy aimed to meet your requirements.


RBS Essentials contents insurance allows you to specify the level of cover you need, so you only cover the items most valuable to you, such as laptops, iPods, bicycles and mobile phones, as well as those essential things you keep in your accommodation. You also have the option to pay monthly at no extra cost. (Available where the equivalent annual premium is over £70). We have included benefits such as vandalism and walk-in theft cover as standard.

Cover includes:

  • Cover available for individual items such as laptops, iPods, bicycles and mobile phones when taken outside the home.
  • One low excess of only £25, no matter what the value of your claim.
  • Pay monthly at no extra cost (on annual premiums over £70).
  • Cover for walk-in theft (except money).
  • Optional accidental damage cover available for your contents in the home.
  • Vandalism cover included as standard.
  • All policies include up to £50 cash in the home and £500 credit card misuse cover.
