Thinking of opening an account
When opening an account with us, we want to make sure that you receive outstanding customer service. Therefore as part of our aim to protect existing and potential customers from the risks of fraud and to ensure that we comply with our legal obligations under the relevant money laundering legislation, there is a requirement to verify applicants for ALL new accounts that are opened. This applies to both new and existing customers.
Local resident applying Face to Face
Please fill in the application form and take it to a branch of your choice. A member of staff will go through the form with you and answer any questions you have. Please bring along with you proof of identity to open your account. We can accept any one of the following documents which should have your signature and photograph.
- Jersey - a current signed passport or Jersey Driving Licence
- Guernsey - a current signed passport or Guernsey Driving Licence
- Isle of Man - a current signed Isle of Man Driving Licence only
- Gibraltar - a current signed Gibraltar Identity Card only
For Non Face to Face Applications
Please fill in the application form and send it to a branch of your choice together with certified copies of one of the following documents.
- A current valid full Passport.
- An EU national Identity Card or Gibraltar civilian registration Card.
- A current valid Spanish residency Card.
It will also be necessary to confirm your current permanent address. Please send one of the following:
- A utility bill (within the last 6 months for example gas or telephone - please note mobile telephone bills are not acceptable)
- A local authority/tax bill (within last 12 months)
- A UK or local bank or building society statement (within last 6 months)
- A motor insurance certificate
- A house insurance certificate
- A local rent card or tenancy agreement
All documents must be the most recent that you have received and be originals - not photocopies. Please note that for persons resident in certain jurisdictions we may require additional information. Please ask a member of staff who can provide advice in this respect.
If you are unable to provide any of the documentation listed, other documentation is acceptable, please speak to a member of staff.
Certified copies must be received from a suitable person e.g. Bank Manager, Lawyer, Accountant, Manager of a regulated Credit or Financial Institution, Notary Public, Member of the Judiciary, Senior Civil Servant, British Embassy Official or a serving Police Officer.
All documents must be certified as a true copy and any photographs should be certified as a true likeness. The certifier must sign and clearly print their name, date the certification and indicate their position or capacity on the copied document along with their contact details. We reserve the right to contact the countersigned or request additional documentary evidence from you.
Existing Customers
If you are already a customer and have previously supplied documentary evidence of identity and address, please speak to a member of staff, as this may not be required again.
